The K-Cup Challenge: Coffee People Organic (Extra Bold)
The last of my samples from our friends at OneGreatCup brings me to Coffee People Organic, which, from what I gather is the only 100% Certified Organic in the Coffee People lineup. That may or may not matter to you (personally, at 6:30 AM, organic is about the last thing on my mind), but for those of you who only eat organic, this may be your only Coffee People option. Actually, now that I think about it, at 6:30 AM, I barely have a mind, and rest assured, nothing is actually on it. But anyway, on to the review…
The Description
This is Coffee People’s own organically grown three bean espresso blend, developed to place our drinks miles ahead of the competition in sheer pleasure. Sweet, smooth and cheery!
The Aroma
As with most of the Coffee People non-flavored varieties I’ve tried, Coffee People Organic has a pretty straightforward Coffee aroma to it. If you like your coffee to smell, like, well, coffee, you’ll love the no-frills aroma of Coffee People Organic.
Drinking it Black
Without cream and sugar I found Coffee People Organic to be slightly bitter (although not in an undrinkable kind of way), with a slightly nutty flavor. There is a gentle sweetness to it (as described), although it’s certainly not sweet. Perhaps it’s more prevalent in this blend, or perhaps I simply haven’t been paying attention lately, but there is some real acidity here. My cheeks bunched up a bit as though I’d just eaten something tart.
With Cream and Sugar
In a word…ORDINARY. That’s not a bad thing. Again, I find Coffee People coffee to be consistently among the least complex blends for Keurig Brewers. It’s actually a bit refreshing. With all the talk of fruit tones, and floral notes, it’s nice to have some no nonsense, plain old coffee options.
Final Thoughts
Coffee People Organic reminds me (more than a little) of their Donut Shop variety. It’s simple, and straightforward. Without a doubt, it’s a blue-collar, working man’s coffee that strikes me as ideal for Joe the Plumber, or anyone else down on Main. St., USA. If you like for coffee’s sake, without a lot of fancy aromas, and fruity flavors, Coffee People Organic should make for a very pleasing option.
Shameless Plug
Let me drop a bit of truth on you…The K-Cup Challenge exits only because of great sponsors like OneGreatCup (the guys who provided my sample of Coffee People Organic). If you like these reviews (or even if you hate the reviews, but love coffee), please take a minute to visit my sponsor, OneGreatCup. They can hook you up with a box (or 10 boxes) of Coffee People Organic. They stock a complete lineup of Keurig Brewers, and, of course, a complete selection of Coffee and Tea K-Cups for those brewers.
