The K-Cup Challenge: Gloria Jean’s Organic White Tea

I’ve finally arrived at the last of my most recent collection of samples from K-Cup Challenge sponsor Shoffee.com.  Although I believe Gloria Jean’s White Tea has been discontinued, those who enjoy it should be still be able to find it in stock if they’re willing to look around.

As you may recall, I wasn’t much of a fan of Gloria Jean’s Passion Fruit Tea.  Sarah was kind enough to review their Oolong for me (I thought it was ok, but I know a few people who love it).  My reaction to the Gloria Jean’s coffee I’ve tried to date has been all over the board.  Ahh, whatever, it’s a new year, so let’s wipe the slate clean and hop into the review.

The Description

Certified 100% organic, this tea is clean and smooth, floral with a fresh spring bouquet.

The Aroma

Decidedly tea-like. I’m sensing some light floral scents.  Nothing that’s going to make me sneeze (I’m allergic to flowers), but there’s definitely something there.  Speaking as a guy who drinks a good bit of his tea in Chinese restaurants, this reminds me a bit more of a floral tea than the more common green.

Drinking it Straight

Maybe I’m simply in the right place (my house, but that’s not what I mean) to be drinking tea.  I’m enjoying the light, and yes, fresh flavor of the Gloria Jean’s White Team.  It’s neither bland nor bitter.  It has the right amount of tea flavor without tasting leafy.  It is a pleasant bit of warmth on a snowy afternoon.

With Honey

Why honey?  I left it on my counter again after I squirted a tablespoon or so in my mouth.  Maybe I haven’t told you, I’m actually only 6 years old.  For those who like their tea a little on the sweet side, the honey will work well.  For those who drink tea straight, no worries, you’re good too.

Final Thoughts

While I pretty much applauded Gloria Jean’s decision to discontinue the other teas we’re reviewed here, I’m a little disappointed to see this one go.  Thankfully, there are several dozen other K-Cup tea varieties to choose from so I’m reasonably certain you, me, and everyone else with a Keurig brewer will be able to find an equally enjoyable alternative.
